I know its been a while... I was on a long break (Sorry Yeshey Aji...hoping to score some brownie points with this recipe *wink wink*) ..but I am back once again and what better recipe to start off than Brownies!!
Some people like their brownies fudge-y whilst others like it more cake-y.
Lets just say this recipe is something in between and it can be altered to your liking by making slight changes. If you like it cake-y add one more egg to it. Adding baking powder gives it that crust formation on the top.
I like chopped roasted walnuts added to my brownies but you can either omit it entirely or replace it with choco chips or any other type of nut.
The good thing about this recipe is, you don't need a mixer and you will require only two bowls to mix the ingredients in. That means less cleaning up afterwards!
Hardware Required:
1. A whisk and/or a spatula
2. An 8'' square cake pan, greased and lined
3. A weighing scale (helps a lot, Yeshey Aji!) or measuring cups
4. Mixing bowls
5. An oven (ofcourse)
Software Required:
1. 150g Chopped dark or semi sweet chocolate
2. 113g Unsalted butter
3. 15g Cocoa powder
4. 190g Castor sugar
5. 1 tsp Vanilla essence
6. 3 Large eggs
7. 95g Flour
8. 1/4 tsp salt
9. 1/4 tsp Baking powder (for the crust:optional)
10. 60g Roasted chopped walnuts (optional)
Method:
- Pre-heat oven to 180*C.
- Mix the flour, salt, baking powder and nuts and keep aside.
- Melt butter and chocolate on a double boiler (Heat water in a pan, put another bowl with the butter and chocolate on top of the pan. Make sure that the water does not touch the bottom of the bowl)
- Take the bowl off the heat and mix in the sugar and cocoa powder.
- Add to the bowl vanilla and eggs ( one by one) mixing well after each addition.
- Finally fold in the flour mix until well incorporated.
- Pour the batter into the greased and lined square pan, level it and bake it on the center rack of your oven for 25-30 minutes.
- Makes 9 brownies.
Enjoy a warm brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream!!
