About Me

My name is Rinchen and I am from Darjeeling, the 'Queen of Hills', situated in West Bengal. It is a small hill station famous for its tea.
I started working at the age of 18, away from the comforts of my home, and thats when I began cooking.
Fortunately, my job took me to different places around the globe introducing my palate to various international cuisines. For 15 years I have taught myself to cook, thanks to the internet, a lot of great cook books and to Nima Ashyang, our cook back at home in Darjeeling, whom I have called many many times for recipes and advice!!
Earlier this year I got married and my hubby (Dunga) is also a foodie among other things. Thank god!

Baking
I used to bake too on and off. After many a failed attempts, I realized that baking isn't as easy as other methods of cooking. Understanding the basics are very important and a little professional help will make a lot of difference. Thats when I decided to quit my job and take my baking to a whole new level. I enrolled myself for a Diploma in Baking and Cake Art.

Needless to say that my love for food and creative cake art was heightened. I went click- click- click about everything I baked and cooked! I shamelessly flooded my friends' inboxes, WhatsApps, Instragram, Pinterest and Facebook with these photos. Many friends requested for recipes whilst others began urging me to start my own blog.
With their encouragements, coupled with the need to share my recipes with my cousin in an easier fashion (I find it as difficult to give Yeshey Aji recipes on WhatsApps as she does to scroll up and down to look for recipes..lolz), I have decided to blog about it. So here I go!

All of these recipes are those that I have tried and tested in my kitchen. Please feel free to make variations and make it your own. The right ingredients and kitchen equipments will also make a lot of difference so please accept my apologies if it does not turn out exactly the way you wanted it to. My intention here is just to share these recipes and not to mislead you in any way.

Photos
Almost all the photos that you see in this blog has been taken with my phone camera so please do forgive my sense of photography, or the lack of it thereof. There is a Nikon D-90 lying around somewhere in the house but I find it convenient to use my iPhone. My dear hubby has promised to help with the photos in the future :))So happy reading and happy eating!!
